Thanksgiving's real name is Sam Fisher

This isn't a recipe. I know. I feel bad. I have no idea where this week went and I can't figure out how it's Thanksgiving already. Like Easter it just snuck up on me, only it's worse this time. Until this morning, I wasn't sure what I was doing. But despite all that and despite not feeling ready, I manned up and put on my apron :).

I managed to put together a few items for our feast tomorrow. Banana Bread as always. Though with the new oven I'm kind of worried about how it's going to turn out. The mandatory Pumpkin Bread or risk facing my Mother's wrath :). The Coffee Cookies from Easter with Butterscotch chips instead of Toffee pieces so they look a little different (still taste good). About four dozen mini Pumpkin Cupcakes based on my Banana Cupcakes and waiting to be frosted with a boiled brown sugar frosting. And finally what is supposed to be a Milk Chocolate Brownie with a Peanut Butter Swirl. It really didn't turn out the way that I had expected, and I'm a little worried about how it's going to turn out. With that said, it's milk chocolate and peanut butter, how bad could it be?

Despite all of that I still kind of feel like I didn't accomplish much. I'm not sure why. It was a long day in the kitchen, and I suppose I did a lot (even found out that my sink is going to detach from my counter if I don't get the builders to fix it soon) and yet here I am. I was actually frantically searching for another recipe to do, and was too tired to start. Although, I do have some cornbread planned for the morning.

On a related note, as I began my baking marathon today, my aunt and uncle came to visit. Partially because my super talented uncle completed work on this ridiculously awesome chair that he made for me. The design is based on the handle of a spoon from the family cottage (seen here). I was so excited to see it and loved it right away, but finding out that it is based on a spoon made it even better. And now that he's done with the chair, I didn't waste any time dropping some not so subtle hints for a coffee table :). He nodded in agreement so I'm going to hold him to it :). Thanks Uncle P! It really is terrific!

Anyway I have nothing more to say, except that if you're celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow or Monday, I hope you have a wonderful meal surrounded by your loved ones. If you're not celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow or Monday, I still hope the same :).

  1. I think the reason you feel the way that you do is that, as a blogger, you don't feel as if you are baking unless you produce a new and successful recipe. Congrats on putting out such a lovely spread for Thanksgiving!

  2. Happy Thanksgiving to you! I forgot you live in our neighbor to the North. When you said Thanksgiving I said whoa-where did October and November go...I must be in a time warp...then I realized my error! Kudos to you for having so much energy! Your family is lucky to have those great desserts!!! Plus LOVE the chair...lots of talent runs in your family!

  4. Thanks for all the kind words gals. In retrospect, I'm happy that I didn't make anymore and thankfully the pb and milk chocolate brownie wasn't a complete disaster :). And Gloria, that's pretty much how I felt, and it actually was Thanksgiving, I still can't believe it's over. :).
And the pumpkin cupcakes were fantastic but the icing... oooh the icing :). I'll have the recipes up as soon as I can :).
